Twitter Revisted
Most people have probably heard of Twitter by now, so I won’t go into details about it here. I signed up with it early on because it seemed to be the thing to do at the time, but I never really got into it. It was cool for a day, so I posted here and there, started following a few people, and then slowly stopped posting. The few people I followed seemed to do the same thing. I guess I didn’t really get it, although I did see a few unique uses for it that I liked, e.g., telling a story a little at a time (see: zombieattack).
Lately though, I’ve been getting back into it. I have a larger circle of followers and am following more people so maybe that is the difference. I’m starting to enjoy it more and probably actually starting to get it now. I think the key is to get a group of friends and family to join with you so you begin with a circle of people to enjoy it with. I think that was my problem before, it just wasn’t that fun without having more people I knew also twittering. It’s fun now.
So my point here is to say, if you’ve tried Twitter before and have left it for dead, then try to find a group of people you enjoy and start up again. It can be fun if you let it and don’t take it too seriously. It can even be useful. You might even find some people on Twitter you had no clue were there. And if you’d like to see what I am up to, you can follow me at: jdmyers.
