About
About Me
I’m a web designer and developer currently located in Columbia, MD. I focus on following web standards to produce usable, accessible, and professional looking websites. I started playing around with writing web pages back around 1995 and then started actually working on websites professionally in 1998. In 1999, I obtained a position doing web design and development work (among other things) as a contractor for the government, and then began doing part-time freelance work in early 2005.
Since websites, both personal and business, represent a client’s online presence, I attempt work closely with my clients during all phases of the design and development process to incorporate their ideas, suggestions, and comments. It’s my goal to produce a website for my clients that truly represents them.
Why Web Standards
There are several reasons why it is important and beneficial to use web standards when developing a website. From a business point of view it will save you time and money because your site takes less time to develop and is easier to maintain. It also insures that your site will work correctly across the different browsers and operating systems, as well as in future browsers. Your site’s pages will also load faster, use less bandwidth, and be more accessible. Following web standards can also improve your site’s search engine rankings.
About The Site
Most of the site content is managed using WordPress and is hosted by DreamHost. All the WordPress templates and non-Wordpress pages are hand coded on a Mac using SubEthaEdit and uploaded using Transmit. All graphics are created using Photoshop, which is also used for any image or photo modification.
